CONTEST: $100 for Your Innovative Idea

Posted by Sundeep Kapur | Friday, October 24, 2008

We are fortunate to meet a lot of good people and learn about what they are doing to improve their email marketing programs.

Allen taught me the value of a paper survey that drove people back to a landing page; he coaxed his recipients to respond by inserting a $2 bill. When I spoke to some of the recipients of the survey, they told me that that the two-dollar bill stood out in their wallet and they felt obligated to give their feedback.

Riad taught me the value of engaging the consumer in a phone dialogue, the engagement would help the consumer open up and feel comfortable with the CSR. Therefore the CSR could solicit the customers email and send something of value. This methodology goes against the standard call center approach, where CSRs attempt to get the consumer off the phone quickly. A little time spent up front goes a long way in keeping the user engaged.

PJ taught me the value of copy, each of her emails includes a recipe. This inclusion allows recipients to feel connected, often inspires and usually serves as the biggest draw in the campaign.

Jeff taught me to take the time to develop a good email story, his emails were full off articles and offers – items to get the user to pay attention and yearn for more.

I could go on and on about these brilliant ideas and those who contribute them through comments on our blog, suggestions during our calls and workshops. So in an effort to continue the creativity, we are sponsoring a contest – send us your unique email idea or strategy, we’ll put it to our panel and reward the first prize winner with $100 (there are also prizes for silver and bronze entries.)

To enter, simply email us with your innovative idea, the winning idea will be featured on the blog.
