The Power of Twitter
Posted by Sundeep Kapur | Thursday, November 27, 2008
I am writing today's post with mixed feelings. I have hardly slept last night - watching the carnage created by the terrorists in Mumbai, India. I grew up in Mumbai, and just recently visited the Taj Hotel, the Marriott, and the railway station - places that were targeted by the terrorists.
The rapid pace of news on Twitter has been absolutely incredible. People have been feeding live updates to this link. Hundred's of updates every few minutes.
You have people at the site, at TV sets around India, and of course from around the world connected. People are asking questions, people are answering. It is quicker than TV.
Twitter has been absolutely amazing! As marketers we have to leverage it into our business.

The Twitter Link is excellent. Thanks. I have to say that this gives testiment to the same type of things I recall facing while in TV news during a crisis. Lots of people with lots of information that is hard to verify. Lots reaction to the action. Lot's of misinforamtion is possible.
All drives curiousity as to what type of ethical guidelines need to be established when twitter information is sited as a news source. I saw this on CNN and found myself scratching my head.

Sundeep,
Thanks for the link and yes I agree, Twitter is amazing and it should be leveraged in marketing. However, it is links like this that sometimes the news cannot report on fast enough.
My thoughts and my prayers go out to everyone involved these last few days. I am hopeful that these attacks will truly teach a lot of people that life is precious and that violence is senseless.
I hope you are well my friend. Take care and good thoughts to you.

Really sorry to see what the terrorists have done.
The Twitter link is addictive. The updates are very frequent. So Yogi, how can a biz use this?
