Reindeer Games
Posted by Reagan Taylor | Wednesday, December 10, 2008
News from the North Pole is that Blitzen is outshining Rudolph this year! Apparently, Blitzen has become the featured reindeer of a US-based wine retailer – resulting in a caption contest, his own Twitter account and maybe even a Facebook Fan Page. To think that one of the lesser-known eight could achieve such notoriety.Dash on over to show your support – Wine Enthusiast is running one of their first contests, soliciting your funny captions for one of Santa’s often-forgotten members of the sleigh team… who’s had a bit too much holiday cheer.

Wine Enthusiast has also integrated traditional media, including ads promoting the contest in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. My favorite feature has to be the recent captions featured on the entry page, helping you to get into the spirit before submitting your own. There are only a few more days to enter…

This is truly innovative. Catalogers need to get very creative in their approach to target prospects.
